Light Arrival Luminous Ceiling

Lighting Products and Fixtures Design Light Arrival Luminous Ceiling by Matt Flynn The clients desired their new sunroom to be uplifting and full of light. The architect wanted a fluid presence to soften the rectangular space. The resulting curvilinear, translucent, suspended ceiling bathes the space in relaxing, diffuse illumination. Extending beyond the sunroom’s limits, the ceiling becomes an environment rather than a singular object. Nighttime dematerializes the sculptural form into shadowless light. Together, the architect and client fabricated and installed the entire ceiling including 400 thermoformed acrylic pieces, 1,500m of suspension wire, and 29,000 LED diodes.
